Is Saint-Tropez worth visiting in winter?

The answer is well, it depends.

Saint-Tropez does not stop being beautiful when temperatures drop. It may be a little less glamorous than during the peak summer season, but this quaint town located in Southern France is still very charming during the off-season.

It is very important to note, however, that Saint-Tropez is basically a ghost town in winter. Most of the restaurants, bars, and shops are closed until April or May. As a result, tourists looking for active nightlife will be disappointed in the off-season.

On the other hand, if you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, winter in Saint-Tropez might be just what you need. The town is surprisingly quiet during this time of year making it perfect for relaxation.

How long to stay in Saint-Tropez in winter?

Even though during summer things are different, I think one day in Saint-Tropez is more than enough during the colder months, meaning it can be a day trip or just a stop between Marseille and Nice, for example

Where to stay

If you choose to spend a night in town, don’t worry, most of my favorite hotels in Saint-Tropez are still open during winter.

Some good choices include Hotel la Ponche, Les Capucines Saint Tropez, Domaine Les Mésanges, and Les Jasmins.

The beautiful colorful buildings in Old Town are one of the first things that come to mind when one thinks of Saint-Tropez.

The Citadel, built-in 1602 by the French military to protect against attacks from the sea, is an interesting place to explore. Be sure to take a walk around the ramparts and enjoy stunning views of the town below.

The traditional cake of Saint-Tropez is a must-try when visiting the town. The Tarte Tropezienne has a soft brioche bun filled with cream and topped with sugar. You can find it in pastry shops all around town. but my favorite is the one from the homonymous restaurant ‘La Tarte Tropezienne’.

4- Walk along Pampelonne Beach

There’s nothing as peaceful as a walk along the beach in winter. Pampelonne Beach has 4km of soft white sand and crystal-clear waters, making it the perfect spot for a stroll on a sunny day.

5- Spend an evening at Port de Saint-Tropez
