Since moving to France, there are few things that I enjoy doing more than sitting in a café for a couple of hours in the company of a friend or a good book – especially here in Nice where the sun rarely stops shining and so many cafés have wonderful terraces.
I try to go to a new coffee shop every week and have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the coffee scene here.

1- Café Librairie Les Parleuses
One of my absolute favorites, this café is both a coffee shop and a bookstore.
It offers a wide variety of books, from old classics to modern bestsellers, and delicious coffee! There’s no better place for an afternoon full of relaxation and reading.

2- HOBO Coffee
This quaint coffee shop in Vieux Nice is famous for its specialty brews and casual bites.
The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for a quiet afternoon with friends or by yourself.

3- Atelier Alfred café
I stumbled on Atelier Alfred one day after visiting Musée Chagall (which is one of my favorite things to do in Nice!) and automatically fell in love.
This unique place not only has a beautiful garden, great coffee, and delicious pastries but also offers all kinds of creative workshops a few times a week (you can check the agenda on their website.

4- Brulerie des Cafes Indien
This coffee shop is the place to go if you appreciate truly good coffee. It serves really high-quality coffee, including some of the rarest and most exquisite beans.

5- HUG Café Nice
This adorable café near Jean Medecin (and right next to Hotel Du Centre, one of the best hotels in Nice) is another personal favorite.
Their sun latte (made of milk, turmeric, and ginger) is simply out of this world and their coffee is top-notch. This is also a good place to get matcha in Nice.

6- Edmond Café
Perfect for brunch or afternoon tea, this is one of the prettiest cafés in town.
Their pastries are delicious and they also have a great selection of sandwiches, salads, and other snacks. The atmosphere here is always pleasant and inviting.

7- Zeni Coffee
This coffee shop somehow reminds me of the ones I used to visit when I was living in the US.
They have a wide variety of coffee and tea, as well as some delicious foods – and eggs for breakfast, which sometimes can be hard to find in France.

8- Chez Les Garçons
If you’re looking for something a bit more hipster, this is the café for you!
With its industrial-looking décor and delicious coffee, it’s definitely one of the trendiest places in Nice.

9- Cafe Frei
Cafe Frei originally comes from Hungary, and it has settled in Nice too.
Their concept of “coffee from around the world” is really interesting, as each of the drinks on the menu is inspired by a different country.

10- Il caffé dai ragazzi
This little Italian-style café serves some of the best cappuccinos in town. It’s also a great place to try some traditional Italian and French eats.
Personally, I find their pistachio tarte absolutely heavenly.

This lovely café serves Malongo coffee from its own roastery. They also have pastries, paninis, and some really interesting food options.
