About Menton

Menton is a beautiful town located on the French Riviera, just east of Nice.

The town is known for its stunning scenery, lovely weather, and – of course – its delicious lemons. In fact, Menton is sometimes referred to as the “city of lemon” due to the large number of citrus trees that can be found in the area.

The town also has a rich history, dating back to Roman times. These days, Menton is a popular tourist destination, with visitors coming from all over the world to enjoy its sunny climate, stunning setting, and of course to celebrate Fete du Citron – the annual lemon festival.

Getting from Nice to Menton

There are a few different ways to get from Nice to Menton, depending on your budget and preferences.

The easiest – and quickest – way to get from Nice to Menton is by taking the train (Omio).

Nice to Menton by train

If you’re looking for a quicker option (and my personal favorite), the train is your best bet. The ride from Nice to Menton only takes about 38 minutes, and trains run frequently throughout the day. Tickets are a bit more expensive than the bus, starting at around 5 euros, but if you’re short on time, it’s definitely worth it.

Also, this is definitely the most scenic route as the train runs along the coast, so you’ll be able to enjoy some stunning views along the way.

This ebook contains a list of the 30 best restaurants in Nice (in the categories of seafood, lunch, fine dining, cafés, Niçoise specialties, and brunch) and is on sale for only €6.90.

Nice to Menton by bus

The most direct route is by bus, taking the LR100. The trip takes about an hour, which is longer than if you were to take the train, but it’s way more affordable at only around 2 euros for the ticket. The buses leave every 30 minutes, so planning is key.

Nice to Menton by car

Finally, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can always rent a car and drive yourself.

If you’re planning on doing some other exploring in the area or just prefer to have your own transportation, driving is always an option. The drive from Nice to Menton is about 25 minutes, and super beautiful as well.

The biggest upside of driving to Menton is the freedom it gives you of being able to stop along the way to enjoy different sights (places like Eze and Monaco are definitely worth a visit!) or take a different route back.

Just be aware that parking can be difficult (and expensive) in Menton, so factor that into your plan especially if you visit during summer.

Nice to Menton by taxi

Finally, if you’re looking for a more luxurious (and expensive) private option, you can always take a taxi from Nice to Menton. The trip only takes about 25 minutes and will cost you between $120 and $150.

If you decide to take a taxi, make sure to schedule in advance as they can be hard to come by – especially during peak tourist season.
